All Programming Suspended – Winnipeg Metro Area moved into Critical Phase

Posted on October 30, 2020

On October 30, 2020, the Province of Manitoba has moved Winnipeg and the Metropolitan area into the Critical – Red phase of the pandemic response system. Along with sweeping changes, the new public health orders will require the suspension of all sport and recreational programming.

Effective immediately, all programs offered by MWSA will be suspended until further notice.

This restriction will be implemented for a minimum of two weeks, and will be evaluated by public health to determine if further continuation of this restriction is required beyond the two week period.

We encourage everyone to do their part in limiting the spread of this virus in the community and to take appropriate precautions to ensure their health and safety. Public health is strongly recommending that people:

  1. Stay home if you are sick, even with very mild symptoms
  2. Wash and sanitize your hands frequently, cover your cough, and physically distance when you are with people outside of your household
  3. If you cannot physically distance, wear a mask to help reduce your risk
  4. Reduce the number of close contacts outside of your household and avoid crowded spaces
  5. Get a flu shot

We look forward to doing our part in helping Manitoba suppress the number of COVID19 cases in our province, and we are excited about the prospect of once again returning to sport at a later date. We’ve been through this once already, and we will be able to do it again.
